Senior Citizen Activities
Bingo - Usually held the third Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
Blood Pressure Checks - Free blood pressure checks each Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. No appointment necessary. Blood pressures done on other days by appointment.
Computers and Computer Classes - The Center has computers available for seniors to use. Any senior needing to use a computer is welcome to use computers when classes are not scheduled. The Center also offers computer classes to seniors and is now taking sign ups for future classes. Basic Internet and Basic Computer Skill classes are offered.
Digitial Camera Classes - Learn how your digital camera works. Take quality pictures for personal and professional needs and learn how to transfer picture files from your camera to computer.
Friends Club - Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m., except for the fourth Tuesday when the Birthday meeting is held at 1:00 p.m., at an area restaurant. Sallie Bouldin is the president of the Friends Club. New members are welcome.
Knitting and Crocheting Classes - Mondays from 1:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Beginners to advanced students. Participants must furnish their own supplies.
Legal Aid - Second Thursday of each month and by appointment only. Call 1-800-951-2257.
Nutrition Program - This program is offered in coordination with the Rockingham County Council on Aging. Hot meals are served to seniors Monday through Thursday at the Bridge Street Nutrition Site.
One Stroke Painting - Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Open Craft Time - Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. Bring your own craft to work on or to share with others or learn a new craft. Call for information about the craft of the month and the supplies needed.
Quilting - Two Rivers Quilt Guild meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m.
Red Hat River Babes - Second Monday of each month.
Rook - Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Draw for partners. Anyone wishing to play should arrive a few minutes early to get your name in the pot.
Scrapbooking Classes - Fridays at 10:00 a.m. Collect your photos and memorabilia to put in a photo safebook. Learn creative ways to decorate pages. Make a book for someone for graduation, marriage, baby book...Call for information on what is needed to start scrapbooking.
Senior Exercise - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m. Low impact and a great easy exercise program to improve health and to have a great time socializing.
Watercolor Classes - Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
