Boards and Commissions

The City of Eden has 5 Boards and Commissions that are appointed by the City Council and are as follows:  Board of Adjustment, Community Appearance, Historic Preservation, Planning Board and Tree Board. 

Meeting Schedule

Board of Adjustment - meets the 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  (The Board meets only as needed on a case by case basis).

Community Appearance Commission - meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall conference room.

Historic Preservation Commission - meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at City Hall.

Planning Board - meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room at City Hall.

Tree Board - meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at noon in the conference room at City Hall.

Information on Boards and Commissions

Board of Adjustment - hears appeals from citizens regarding decisions or determinations made by the Zoning Administrator on the Zoning Ordinance.  The Board also considers requests for special use permits and variances under the Zoning Ordinance.  The Board consists of 10 members appointed by City Council.

Community Appearance Commission - works on beautification projects and develops programs that promote improved appearance of the community.  The Commission consists of eight members appointed by City Council.

Historic Preservation Commission - works to promote, protect and preserve the history of the community.  The Commission has the authority to designate and regulate historic landmarks and districts.  The Commission consists of eight members appointed by City Council.

Planning Board - makes recommendations on matters pertaining to land use and zoning issues in the community.  The Board hears rezoning requests and requests for amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and makes recommendations to City Council.  The Board consists of 10 members appointed by City Council.

Tree Board - works to protect trees on public property.  The Board works on projects which promote the importance of trees to the community and the environment.  The Board also makes recommendations on tree removal requests in the public right-of-way and works to develop ordinances which will protect and preserve the trees in the community.  The Board consists of eight members appointed by City Council.
